Over the Labor Day weekend, Jerry Waldridge invited the members of the Kentucky Muleskinners
to an impromptu wagon ride at the farm of Walter Centers near Lawrenceburg, Ky. I was able to drive down and join the group on Saturday, September 1, 2018. We were delayed in
getting underway due to some thundershowers in the area as our departure time approached. However, once the storm passed, the sky started to clear and there were 6 wagons and
about 10 outriders ready to head out. Within an hour, we were riding in sunshine and the temperatures were starting to rise. After crossing US 127, we met up with Jerry Gritton
at his home and he proceeded to lead us over a 20 mile route that he had laid out. It turned out to be a beautiful day with light breezes, partially shaded back roads with light
traffic and few hills. Although our late start made it later than usual when we got back to Walter's farm, the consensus of the group was that this had been a most enjoyable ride.
The final thing that made this an ideal day was the big pot of homemade chili that was waiting for us once all of the harness was hung up and the stock was watered and fed. Click on
